Catalyst 10.4 Treiber für Linux
Unterstützt werden alle Desktop Grafikkarten, bis hin zur HD5970, und alle Mobility Grafikkarten, bis zur
HD4800 Serie. Insgesamt wurden fünf Fehler behoben und auch die aktuelle Radeon HD4290, die wir im neuen 8er
Chipsatz verbaut finden, wird unterstützt. Neu ist auch die Unterstützung für Ubuntu 10.04 early look. Alle

23.7.2009 - AMD stellt diesen Monat auch für Linux User den neuen Treiber zum Download bereit. Unterstützt
werden alle aktuellen Radeon Desktop Grafikkarten und auch Workstation Grafikkarten fehlen natürlich nicht.
Insgesamt wurden acht Probleme behoben. So zum Beispiel wird bei Multimonotoring System jetzt der erste Bildschirm

Note: On Novell's openSUSE, SLED and SLES operating systems running “sax2” or “sax2 -r” on the console overwrites the X.Org
configuration file xorg.conf, reverting changes made by running “aticonfig --initial”. As a result subsequent X session may start up
using the open source Radeon on X-Vesa graphics drivers instead of the proprietary ATI Linux Graphics Driver
Solution: Do not use Sax2 when the proprietary Linux Graphics Driver is installed. Instead configure all display parameters using the
Catalyst Control Center--Linux Edition or the aticonfig command line interface..

Known Issues
The following section provides a brief description of known issues associated with the latest version of ATI Catalyst™ Linux software suite. These issues
include:
- Resuming from sleep the display connected to add-on card remains off in some dualhead mode configurations
- System may stop functioning while trying to start a third X-session on some ASICs
- System may become unresponsive when toggling between virtual terminals in multihead configuration with application running
- Catalyst Control Center: The primary display is not identified when using the Identify Displays button
- Error may occur while setting the TV geometry
- The display might not scale appropriately for each resolution/refresh rate change through amdcccle
- Starting X with a second hotplugged display may cause segmentation fault
- Game corruption might be observed in full screen when 2 monitors are connected and RandR 1.2 is enabled
- Video playback may exhibit corruption when desktop effects are enabled and Composite is not explicitly disabled
- TV screen corruption may be visible while starting the X-server on some ASICs
- [SUSE11] The display might not turn off while disabling the output
- [Ubuntu 8.10] Startx may fail with no monitor connected and RandR1.2 enabled
- [Ubuntu 8.10] System may become inoperative when starting X on surround view system
- Detecting second display using amdccle "Detect Display" button may result in error and will require a relaunch to detect both displays properly
- With both DP and CRT connected, starting X-Server in big desktop mode may cause the DP display to go off and on, for every few seconds
- [SUSE 11.X x86] System may fail to respond when executing multiple server generations
- The engine clock and memory clock values may be incorrectly reported by ATI CAL as 0MHz

Ubuntu 8.10, SurroundView- und die Stream-Funktionalität
Der neue Treiber kann ab sofort vom Server des Herstellers heruntergeladen
werden. Wie gewohnt bietet AMD eine Installationsanwendung zum Download
an, die automatisch die Distribution erkennt und entweder geeignete Pakete installiert
oder Teile des Treibers neu übersetzt. Offiziell unterstützt werden X.Org

Linux Grafiktreiber
USB-3.0-Treiber für Linux veröffentlicht
Treiber gelangt voraussichtlich in den Kernel 2.6.31
Die Intel-Entwicklerin Sarah Sharp hat einen USB-3.0-Treiber für Linux veröffentlicht. Der könnte im September
2009 im offiziellen Linux-Kernel vorzufinden sein. Jetzt lässt er sich bereits ausprobieren
Sharp bietet den Treiber für den USB-3.0-Host-Controller in ihrem eigenen Kernel-Zweig auf kernel.org bereits zum Download an. Geht es nach Greg Kroah-Hartman gelangt der Treiber in den Linux-Kernel 2.6.31. Mit dieser Version ist im September 2009 zu rechnen.
Sharp hofft, dass Entwickler, die im Besitz von Prototypen sind, ihren Treiber jetzt testen. Intel will mit Linux-Distributoren zusammenarbeiten, damit sie den neuen USB-Treiber in ihrer Standardinstallation mitliefern.
Den Linux-Treiber für den USB-3.0-Hostcontroller xHCI hatte Sharp schon im Dezember 2008 auf der SuperSpeed Developers Conference vorgestellt. Damals konnte sie den Hostcontroller-Treiber noch nicht veröffentlichen, da er nur unter einem NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) verfügbar
war
Mit USB 3.0 sollen Übertragungsraten von bis zu 5 Gigabit pro Sekunde möglich sein. USB 2.0 unterstützt höchstens 480 Megabit pro Sekunde. Sharps Treiber enthält auch anfängliche Unterstützung für USB-3.0-Geräte. Eine breite Auswahl an Geräten, die den neuen Standard unterstützen, wird jedoch erst für 2010 erwartet
